About

Grounded. Strategic. Human.

Hello! I’m Bessie Chow, and I founded Go Beyond Equity to help organizations navigate complexity with clarity and integrity. I believe governance should reflect the purpose, people, and possibility at the heart of every organization.

With over 15+ years of experience across nonprofit, public (including Crown), private, and Indigenous governance bodies, I support boards, executive teams, and senior leaders in building systems that are both practical and empowering. My approach is rooted in the belief that good governance is an active, evolving practice — grounded in accountability, alignment, and collective leadership — and responsive to both compliance and context.

As a chartered governance professional (Chartered Governance Professionals of Canada) candidate and trained strategic planning facilitator (Vantage Point), I’ve helped organizations strengthen decision-making, implement meaningful reforms, and develop policies that reflect who they are and where they’re headed. Having served on boards myself, I understand the realities — and responsibilities — of leading from within.

If you’re seeking thoughtful governance support — or are interested in exploring ideas around collaborative leadership and decision-making — I’d love to connect.

Strengthening decision-making through systems that reflect people, purpose, and possibility.
